This was definitely not my best reading year. I started out the year in a reading slump. It took me forever to get into my reading groove in 2018. There were a few months that were absolutely amazing and filled with fantastic reads, like March, April and July. I feel like half the year was spent hating half the things I picked up. I ended up reading over 160 books this year. My goal was to read only 100. So even though I spent less time reading, I must be reading faster because I still read pretty much just as much as last year. It was my goal this year to read at least 60 books off my physically owned TBR and I reached that goal in November. I still have close to 80 unread books though on my shelves. Here's to finishing that off next year! I went through a phase of really loving my local library this year. At least half of the books I read this year were library books. On that note, three of my top five reads of the year were library books. I feel like I learned a lot about my likes and dislikes as a reader this year. I focused less on reading "popular" books, instead trying to read things that I was actually interested in. I also realized that although my favorite book of all time (Lord of the Rings) is a Fantasy book, I'm not really a fan of that genre. Since I love LotR so much, I find it really hard for other Fantasy books to live up to that standard. I think if I were to pick a favorite genre in 2018, I'd have to say it's a contradictory tie between YA contemporary and classic literature. My hope for next year is that 2019 will be a better year overall, not just for reading but for life in general. 2018 was a really rough one for me personally and I want to leave it all in the past and start fresh. Hopefully that will be the case. My Top 5 Reads of 2018: My Worst 5 Reads of 2018: That's it for my 2018 wrap up. Tell me, what was the best book you read this year? Did you find any new favorites? I sure hope you did.
