I managed to snag 24 books from Book Outlet during the 2017 Boxing Day Sale
for less than $60. Here's everything I got. 5/5 Stars!KIWI IS IMPRESSED! $10 well spent. So last week I decided on a whim to order one of the new Harry Potter coloring books. Adult coloring books have become mega popular since around 2015 and it looks like the folks at Scholastic have decided to get in on the game too with a whole line of HP coloring books. After looking at the reviews, as well as some spoiler pictures, I decided to go with the Magical Places & Characters one for no other reason than the pictures intrigued me most. I believe this one is the third and most recent one in the series and came out last month in March. There are more scheduled for release in just a few days' time including ones that come in postcard size with glossy backs that you can actually use as postcards and one that is full of very large, poster-sized images to color. That one is more pricey but sure does look interesting. Harry Potter Magical Places & Characters Coloring book:Visually, the front cover is very pleasing for the eyes. This particular one is accented with red - very Gryffindor if you ask me. Even the Hufflepuff in me can agree that the cover is very appealing. Inside, on the inner panels, that deep, beautiful red color continues with little white stars inside. The cover is made of a nice, thick stock paper and the coloring pages seem very sturdy as well. I've heard reviews that markers will bleed through this paper, but I tried it out and had no problem. As you can see here, I couldn't help myself, I just had to color one as soon as I could. After flipping through the pages, I settled on a somewhat easy picture to start with. It's of my favorite character (from the books, not the movies) Ginny Weasley. For this picture, I used a combination of colored pencils and crayons and it turned out rather nicely. Next time, I'll try using markers instead to see if I like the results better. Like I said, I started easy, but some of these pictures can be very overwhelming at first glance! Take this picture of Dumbledore's office for instance. It's obviously not for the faint of heart. If you have ADHD or a short attention span, I don't think this is the coloring book for you. But if you are looking for a way to immerse yourself even deeper into the HP Universe, I think you will adore putting the time and effort into completing these masterpieces! I thought this one was rather hilarious and just had to share it. It's evil Umbridge in her office. I'm going to need more pink crayons! Notice some of the sad faces of the poor cats stuck on her wall. I'd be sad too if I had to sit behind her all day... This one here looks like it's going to be a blast to color! It's a super exciting Quidditch scene where Harry is about to catch the Snitch. The only thing that saddens me about this pic is the fact that all of the other Hogwarts Houses are represented in the bleachers except for my beloved Hufflepuff! It seems the artist who drew this one had an amazing sense of humor. It's the scene from Prisoner of Azkaban where Aunt Marge is blowing up like a balloon. Look at the expression on Vernon Dursley's face! Can't wait to color that mustache! I'm not sure yet if this one here is going to be super theraputic to color in, or if it will give me a compete nervous breakdown. o.O The jury is still out on this one. If you can't tell from the image above, it's about 200+ wand cases just waiting to be colored in at Olivander's shop. I can't wait to try it. Lastly, I just had to share these ones because they are just so gorgeous! I'm no Slytherin, but these Death Eater masks are really speaking to me. I only wish I had better coloring supplies in order to really make these babies pop! Get yours today!Trust me, if you love Harry Potter as much as I do, you will not go wrong buying this one. I bought mine from Walmart.com for about $10 and some change after tax. Shipping costs around $5 unless you go with SiteToStore pickup like I did, then it's free. It took about 9 days to get to me, so if you don't want to wait, you're probably better off picking one up in the actual store itself. They sell these pretty much everywhere books are sold these days. I've even seen them at FYE!
Until next time, Kiwi <3 |
