1. The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien (5/5 stars)This was a reread for me. My third reread of this book in total, but actually the first reread of the year so far. If you know me, you know how much I love Tolkien's writing, even if it does take me longer to get through. I just want to relish in his writing instead of just rushing through. I also rewatched the movies and had a great time as well. |
2. The Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien (5/5 Stars)Another reread, this time of my favorite book. I hadn't reread this book in about three years and honestly I was kind of afraid to. I was scared that I might not love it as much anymore, but that was not the case. I still love it just the same. I couldn't keep the smile off my face while reading the first few chapters again. It felt like coming home. |
3. Wicked Like a Wildfire by Lana Popovic (1.5/5 stars)This book was a SOUR disappointment. It was one of my most anticipated reads of 2017 but after hearing a few negative reviews, I kept holding off on starting this one. I'm sad to say that I agree with the majority of the nay sayers. This book was painfully overwritten and pretentious. I do think some people would enjoy this more than I did, particularly if those people were fans of Renee Ahdieh, Tahereh Mafi or S. Jae-Jones' over-the-top writing styles. |
4. The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee (4/5 Stars)I was thrilled to get an eARC of this book from Edelweiss+. I read and adored The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue earlier this year and was highly anticipating this one too. This was a great sequel that definitely lived up to my expectations. I laughed, I almost cried, I had a ton of fun. If you loved book one, I promise you'll find yourself enjoying book 2 almost as much. |
6. The Ghost Road by Charis Cotter (3/5 Stars)I did a full review of this on on the blog. Go HERE if you want to hear my long winded ramblings. |
