It's time to get a little salty up in here.
Here are my top 5 books that I did not like,
but I'll tell you all about what's wrong with them. ROFL
1. A Court of Thorns and Roses
It started out just fine. Then, enter horny fairyland. I'm done. Idk guys. I'm just not a very sexual person and so I sure as shit don't want to read about all those lusty fae. I think it's great that so many people love it. Finding a series or an author you adore is one of the greatest feelings on Earth. I love the Throne of Glass series. This one just doesn't do it for me. |
2. City of Bones
Another extremely popular and extremely well loved book that I couldn't really stand. Sure, it had it's moments, but I just don't see the big deal. Actually, I hated the main character with a fiery passion. I don't have time to read about someone I don't even like. I was pretty excited to read this years ago, and then I didn't even like it. Figures. Just my luck. |
3. Petals on the wind
This is the second book in the Flowers In The Attic series by V.C. Andrews. This whole series it pretty messed up (and I never made it past the second one). It's so psychologically complex, there is a whole shitload of ideas to discuss. Here in the second book, though, Kathy's choices make me hate her so much. How could she do these things after what she's been through? I could rage about this series all day if you let me. |
4. Matched
This book was pretty popular a few years back. I have no idea why. The premise of this book is amazing and the society is something that is thought-provoking and really made me think. However, the amazing premise quickly turns into a boring girl's internal dialogue and includes a love triangle, no discernible plot and a MC with Special Snowflake Syndrome. The writing was great. The content was crap. |
5. The Handmaid's Tale
There's a lot going on in this somewhat short book. The concept is truly frightening and I appreciated the idea of the book. However, the actual execution of the style of writing used threw me way off. What have punctuation marks ever done to hurt Margaret Atwood? Huh? That's what I want to know. I wanted a happier, or at least a more conclusive, ending, too. |
