1. The Lord of the RingsI wonder if there will ever come a post where I don't mention LOTR. Nah, that's crazy talk. I'm thankful for LOTR, because without it, I would have never realized that I am a nerd. Also, I don't think I would have ever become such a ravenous reader either. This book was my gateway drug into the world of the nerdy and I'm so glad that I gave it a chance to change my life. |
3. Howl's Moving CastleI'm thankful for this book for giving us the most hilariously vain wizard of all time - more so than even Gilderoy Lockhart. "If I can't be beautiful, I don't want to live!" - Howl. The way that he acts in this book has me howling (heh heh) with laughter. This book also features storytelling at its finest, courtesy of Ms. Diana Wynne Jones. I think this book was her masterpiece. |
4. The Wee Free MenI'm thankful for this book for giving us two things: the bad ass, frying pan wielding miss Tiffany Aching and the tiny, blue, drunken, thieving Nac Mac Feegle. They speak with a Scottish accent, for poot's sake! What's not to love? The sequel, A Hat Full of Sky is just as good, if not better. Read it now. Thank me later. You're welcome in advance. |
