This week's task is to try and chose the five characters from books that you'd most like to invite to Thanksgiving (or Friendsgiving) dinner. Here are mine. I'm not sure what this says about me, but when I read The Catcher in the Rye this year, I found so much of myself in Holden. During the book, he's clearly nuts but he's also written to be so real and says and thinks things that I find myself saying and thinking all the time. He'd probably think all my guests were a bunch of phonies though. He's first on the guest list. This dude is so suave and so funny, if he were real, I'm sure I'd be in love with him. I'm also sure he'd break my heart, but I'd happily let him. If you haven't read this trilogy (and have no interest in doing so), consider picking up King of Scars this upcoming January instead. It's his new spinoff series and I seriously cannot wait. To know him is to love him (or to be strongly irritated by him in some cases). But it's a lovable kind of irritation. He says the funniest things. He's like Flynn Rider's fraternal twin, if he had one. I strongly recommend this series to anyone who's interested in a fast-paced, fun-loving romp filled with friendship and swoon-worthy relationships. Oh, Gansey. How you make me swoon with your preppy ass purple polo shirts and khakis. At first glance, he seems like the kind of dude who most anyone would DESPISE. And yet, he has so many rich layers (like Shrek or an onion... or CAKE) that you slowly fall in love with his character as the journey progresses. I'm certain Holden would hate his guts. Hey, look. I restrained myself from choosing all boys and having a sausage fest. (Sorry, Peeta. I'll see you at Christmas. xoxo) I feel like if Ginny were real we would be best friends. She's so witty and strong and underestimated. Just like me, ahem, ahem. (oh no, was that Umbridge's cough?!) I would LOVE to have her there with me for Thanksgiving. Just leave Harry and the kids at home, dear. They're a bore.
