"I gotta get back to Hogwarts. I gotta get back to school. I gotta get back to Hogwarts. Where everything is magicoooool."
I'm 3 books into my magical reread
of Harry Potter and loving it.
- "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live."
- "Books! And cleverness! There are more important things - friendship and bravery."
- "I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even put a stopper on death."
- "Alas, earwax!"
Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets by j. K. Rowling5/5, up from 4/5 last time. This one has always been harder for me to get into. It's just such a rough year at Hogwarts for Harry. Hardly anything happy or good seems to happen at all. If this were the only book to go off of, I, for one, would not want to go to Hogwarts. |
- "It is our choices, Harry, that show us what we truly are, far more than our abilities."
- "Lockhart'll sign anything if it stands still long enough."
- "'Scared?' Malfoy Muttered, so that Lockhart couldn't hear him. 'You wish," said Harry out of the corner of his mouth."
- "'Your aunt and uncle will be proud, though, won't they?' said Hermione. 'Proud?' said Harry. 'Are you mad? All those times I could've died, and I didn't manage it? They'll be furious!'"
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling5/5 stars, for sure. This seems to be everyone's favorite of the series. It was never mine... before. Now, the third time around, out of all three, this one has been the best. The beginning is so funny and the pacing is so perfect. I'm really starting to see why |
- "'Harry!' said Fred, elbowing Percy out of the way and bowing deeply. 'Simply splendid to see you, old boy --' 'Marvelous,' said George, pushing Fred aside and seizing Harry's hand in turn. 'Absolutely spiffing.' Percy scowled. 'That's enough, now' said Mrs. Weasley. 'Mum!' said Fred as though he'd only just spotted her and seizing her hand too. 'How really corking to see you!'"
- "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."
- "You think the dead we loved ever truly leave us?"
- "Don't let the muggles get you down."

I still think that Order of the Phoenix was the funniest of the series, but we'll see when I get there if that still rings true. Also, my favorite Potter book is Half Blood Prince. I'm curious to see if that will change by the end of this reread.
